Low-cost hydrogen catalyst

It is without a doubt one of the most stable candidates to replace oil, by similar physico-chemical properties which allow a high energy production, in addition to the technology of hydrogen engine is a constantly evolving and increasingly getting better energy efficiency.

But the difficulty of the use of hydrogen as energy source lies in that the processes of obtaining tend to be difficult and, in some cases, to a very high cost , requiring a constant technological development which is still underway and which is now added a new discovery.

In this way we have before us a new catalyst for hydrogen, i.e., an agent that acts as the physico-chemical processes Accelerator, created by researchers at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and to obtain this gas in a much cleaner way.

It is currently the separation of hydrogen from different compounds is via combustion, and this demands a very high amount of released CO2, having as clean, but much slower, alternatives to use renewable energy sources (preferably the use of Solar energy)

With the production of these enzymes, there is a process of catalyst that speeds up the obtaining of hydrogen without need to generate a higher emission of carbon dioxide, being the first step to reduce production costs and to generate a lower environmental impact.

Hydrogen from ethanol and solar energy

One of forms of energy more development is having in recent times is the energy of the hydrogen, applied mostly in the field of cars and other vehicles, and using concepts from other clean energy, as it is photosynthesis, which has been popularized in the field of thesolar.

Energia Solar

On this occasion, we have encountered with a technological breakthrough that was driven by students of the University of Catalonia, in conjunction with other researchers of the University of Aberdeen (Scotland) and the University of Auckland (New Zealand) which seeks to harness this energy source more efficiently.

To get electricity through this raw, it is a huge amount of energy required (to produce the chemical reaction) and so they have resorted to the solar energy as a means of obtaining it, mixing it with a Photocatalyst.

This product is placed in a container of titanium dioxide (semi-conductor materials) together with an unknown quantity ofethanol, being stimulated radiation of ultraviolet light (sunlight filtered) which begins to stimulate the mixture to produce hydrogen, which are later captured by nanoparticles of gold ions.

I hydrogen by mimicking photosynthesis

As many know, photosynthesis is one of the activities any sort of vegetable Kingdom can generate their own food, i.e. energy, something that if took it to the demands of electric power, is precisely what is being sought from the earliest times.

Focusing on this concept, it has been announced that a new technology that plan to use a very similar to the photosynthesis system to create electricity using hydrogen is currently in full development.

As many know, one of the ways to obtain this raw is "breaking" the water molecule, although also it may be subjected to other processes to generate new hydrocarbon resembling a fossil, fuel behaviour although of course, should participation oxygen in this reaction.

In plants, acts also as an oxidizing agent, but it is quickly released in breathing, absorbing carbon dioxide, which would have to work for increased performance (for the moment, the structure of the hydrogen cell degrades)

As if this out, this would be combined also with the use of solar energy, applying directly using a blue light technology, creating a highly efficient energy conversion system.

At the moment it's all in development and is no more than a project, though it is advancing by leaps and expected results are too optimistic.

Skylon spacecraft to hydrogen

One of the forms of mobility and energy that is in constant development is the use of hydrogen and electrical energy, with examples such as the vehicle green alpine as a clear combination in vehicles, and now joining the nanosail D in the field of spacecraft that seek to use clean energy or with lower possible contamination.

It is the implementation of the spacecraft Skylon, a project which would be located by a private British company reaction engines limited (REL) which will seek to provide in the future the eternal promise of space tourism, although of course, will do it so using clean energy.

This conceptual ship would use as a means of automotive hydrogen energy, working in combined cycle and offering fuel consumption up to 15 times lower that is eventually used in shipments of special ships today.
It would also add conceptual technology of compressed air engine that take advantage of the heat generated by the ship out of the atmosphere to generate propulsion, with a combustion chamber where mezclaría with liquid hydrogen giving a great energy efficiency.

Hydrogen An Alternative To Oil

Oil is seeing lately as a creator of conflicts, either by pollution that it generates in the environment, as in the rising prices of fuel, and since then, the wars resulting from its control, given that we all know that it is a scarce commodityexpensive and non-renewable.

That's why they are trying to discover new alternatives to oil for use in transport and machinery, and hydrogen is one that better results is having.

Its main advantage is its abundance, as well as basic and light, but which to find it in its pure state it must be processes that require other sources of energy, such as for example the electric.

Also seeing the positive side, the electricity is easy to get through renewables such as solar or wind, and hydrogen is found in the water, which is why none of the two requirements are scarce.

One of the main advantages is that it does not emit harmful gases to living organisms, contaminants or causing the greenhouse effect.

Solar energy and hydrogen, possible alternative fuels

We continue with this review in Erenovable.com which we have already begun in our previous "vehicles with alternative fuel" article. We have already talked a little bit of the context that motivates extensive research in this direction, and some of the main systems that are being developed as a hybrid cars and fuel based on the use of alcohol. We now come to analyze briefly car motor from hydrogen and solar energy.

Hydrogen cars are cars that based on this item your primary way to get power to their locomotion. These vehicles can operate by combustion, where the hydrogen is "burned" as do the traditional fuels.Or through the conversion of fuel cells that convert hydrogen into electricity and then in power for the operation of the engine.

This system is extremely favourable to the environment because the single residue generated by the hydrogen is water. There are currently some hydrogen vehicles in operation but still remains much research and development to make them viable.

Solar cars are one of the developments in the field of alternative fuel vehicles.Operation is based on the production of energy solar located above the car.So far these designs have not shown even a form of practical, transport by the insufficient level of energy they generate and little convenience designs which should be in accordance to format its roof solar panels.
