Recycled Beer bottles Used to Construct Las Vegas Building

Las Vegas is also known as Sin City for its over the top glitz, the way it appears to promote glamour over everything else and its promotion of the indulgence of one’s senses to the point of being gluttonous.

By its apparent promotion of vices, being eco-friendly is perhaps the last thing on the minds of builders which is exactly why the Morrow Royal Pavilion stands out as a beacon of eco-righteousness in Las Vegas.

Used as a manufacturing facility, the building is made entirely from recycled beer bottles. All the bottles used in the structure were collected by Realm of Design from hotels located near the Las Vegas Strip. The project was commissioned by Scott McCombs, an entrepreneur, and was inspired by England’s Swarkestone Hall Pavilion.

With a 30,000-square-foot of floor space inside, the structure is already being dubbed the largest building in the world constructed from recycled bottled.

The building was constructed using over 500,000 discarded beer bottles which could have filled a space as big as 8 football fields. However, looking at the exterior of the building, no one can tell that it’s made from beer bottles or any other recycled materials.

The bricks used in making the Pavilion were given a sandstone-like finish and texture by crushing the beer bottled finely into a grainy material after it was mixed with fly ash. This mixture was then melted and poured into moulds to for the bricks that are called ‘GreenStone’.

Institute of Technology of Tokyo Reveals its New Building Entirely Covered With Solar Panels

When we speak of solar installations in the buildings, the first image that comes to mind is that of a blue ceiling covered with solar panels. And I am sure that not many of us have imagined a blue all building, with all the walls, and every inch of the ceiling covered with solar panels.

The Institute of technology of Tokyo has done exactly what none of us can digest; they have built a new building, which is entirely covered in solar installations. The aerial view of the building makes it seem waterproof and quite unusual, but is not the aspect, is the technology that makes thinking.

Institute of technology of Tokyo is considered a prestigious University in the world and in fact the best in Japan. The revelation of his car sustaining building has improved his image for the eco-minded community. The exterior of the environment and promotion of innovation of energy including the roof is covered with panels of 4500. These panels have a total production capacity of 650 kilowatts of power, which is also supplemented by 100 kW fuel cell.

A question that strikes the mind is what tangible difference has this facility in the power generation capacity of the building? The answer is simple; the building has seven floors and two additional levels of basement and is due to the solar panels which consumes half of the power that would have consumed a building of the same size without solar installations.

Fuel cell supplies around a building

In an achievement innovative to provide clean, green, energy the octagon, apartment of 500 residential units on Roosevelt Island in New York, will be the first to stock up with fuel cells.

This innovative project was an important initial investment of 1.2 million dollars of the project, and has been sponsored by the New York State Energy Research Development Authority (NYSERDA).


The energy of the building system draws a solid oxide (SOFC) fuel cell UTC Power of 400 Kw. The SOFC are used for the production of energy on a large scale and work on the basis of cogeneration of heat and power (CHP). This type of battery fuel requires a very high temperature (700-100 degrees Celsius) to produce electricity. This requirement of high temperature creates a problem, but the steam produced by the high temperature can be used to produce more electricity.


It is fuelled by natural gas that turns into electricity through an electrochemical process constant that requires less than combustion and thus produces less emissions.
