Marine Rope Upcycled Into Stylish Woven Rugs

Woven rugs made from recycled materials may not be the freshest idea in the world of floor accessories but few designers have reinvented the lowly rug with as much elegance as Sophie Aschauer.

The designer was inspired to create these intricate looking mats while on a sailing excursion and what makes these mats even more special is the fact that they are woven using marine rope upcycled and repurposed into beautiful floor accessories.

 Aschauer called the series SerpentSea to denote the origin of their basic material as well as the symbolic shape of mythical sea creatures.

For a material that has little use once it has outlived its usefulness in the original application, the ropes prove to be surprisingly delightful in their new avatar as the basic and only material used for colorful home accessories. Dyed in dynamic colors, the SerpentSea Mats are named after infamous 17th century pirates like ‘Morgan’, ‘Drake’, and ‘Bonnie’ which means that each pieces comes with its own a unique back-story that allows the owner to fashion his or her own anecdote around an otherwise neglected accent piece in the home.

With different textures and hues, the mats fit in with both modern and traditional home décor schemes. Offered in both round and strip styles, the mats can also be placed on top of both round as well as longer end tables to liven up plain pieces of wooden furniture.

Parks marine eolicos: approve the first in the U.S. after ten years

United States is a country that definitely needs to be accessible to other more developed in the generation of renewable energy.  A good step in that direction is the final approval of Cape wind, which will be its first wind farm marino, a project that took 10 years to be approved.

 
The new marine wind park will be located from the town of horseshoe shoal, in the State of Massachusetts, is in the South-West of the country on the Atlantic coast. It will be with 130 turbines that will give you the ability to generate 420 MW of electricity which will be sufficient to provide 75% of the energy needs of 75% of the peninsula of Cape cod and its nearby islands

He is expected that the construction of the marine wind park begins next fall. However still needs to move forward in more commercial contracts to allocate 50% of the wind energy that will produce. At the time, the first half of the total quota has already been reserved for the national network.

Spain: Prime marine wind park

Catalan to build the first Park in Tarragona Spanish marine wind project is progressing by leaps.

Recent reports indicate that an agreement has been signed between L'Institut of research in energy of Catalonia (IREC), main investor of the project, and Vortex, Catalan company dedicated to services modelling wind.


This Convention allows carrying out studies estimate the wind field with which will serve to contribute to the development of the plant.


Project that has been named Zèfir Test Station (test station) mixed turbines anchored to the seabed marine with other floating.


With regard to Marine wind park project Vortex on the one hand shall carry out studies on the wind conditions normal and extreme estimates using a numerical model simulation that has already been tested in the Baltic Sea and North Sea with excellent results.

Parallel to this IREC access to Vortex telematic systems in its own console in order to make estimates in the areas of study for the implementation of the platform.


In conclusion, we can ensure that project will be developed in two stages: first a maximum of four wind turbines will be installed anchored at the bottom of the sea 3.5 kilometres from the coast, with a total capacity not exceeding 20 MW.Estimated time of operation is in e 2012.


In the second stage: must be placed until eight floating wind turbines around thirty kilometres from the coast.Maximum power shall not exceed the 50 MW.The deadline for entry into force of the second phase is scheduled for 2014.
